Hi, I’m Emily, a prelicensed clinical mental health counselor (intern) and certified meditation teacher.
Spouses, kids, parents, jobs, bills … It's a LOT!
Life is relentless and it’s easy to get stuck in cycles of reactivity which lead to stress, anxiety, conflict, and relationship issues.
I support individuals and couples with compassionate connection and specific tools to calm the nervous system, increase insight, and create meaningful change.
I am deeply committed to helping clients gain access to their own inner resources, and helping them cultivate the skills to create their best lives.
Unlock greater wisdom, calm and clarity by bringing compassionate attention and change to the unhelpful behaviors and old stories that are no longer working for you.
My therapeutic approach meets you in that powerful intersection between neuroscience and the human spirit.
Evidence-based techniques honor your unique experiences, perspectives and spirit, while also ensuring that therapy sessions are practical, relatable and useful to your daily challenges.
Growth and healing happen within a relational space of Compassion, Trust, Truth, and Care. You can rely on me to hold this space for you with respect and authenticity.
Forget the old-school “blank-expression… mmm-hmm…tell me more” therapist! I bring my own humanity, humor and heart to every session.
I was called to a counseling career after spending 25 years scaling the corporate ladder. I understand the demands of a very full life, and how hard it is when your investment of time and energy fall out of sync with your values and sense of purpose.
Meditation and Love are the grounding forces that keep me in sync. I first learned meditation from an English-speaking cook in an inner-city Wat (temple) in Bangkok; I have practiced and taught Vipassana meditation for the last twelve years. I practice love daily within my family, which is made up of a gentle husband, three wildly energetic sons, and two spectacular sight hounds.
Fun Fact: I have traveled to over 30 countries and consider Japan and India tied for my favorites.
Emily Martin is a pre-licensed counselor offering low-cost therapy services to individuals and couples in person in the Wilmington area, and virtually across North Carolina as an intern with Still Point Counseling and Wellness. She will receive her M.Ed. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the College of William & Mary in 2025. Emily holds a Mindfulness and Meditation Teaching Certificate from The Greater Good Science Institute at the University of California, Berkeley and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from NC State University. Prior to pursuing a career in counseling, Emily spent 25 years as a global business executive working in carbon-free energy generation and supply chain management. Today Emily enjoys helping clients recognize the thoughts, beliefs and behaviors that are keeping them stuck, and helping them cultivate skills to live with greater purpose, joy and ease.
