Dana Peterson Dorsett, LCSW

Hi. I’m Dana. Welcome to my page. I believe that it’s not really about what happens to you and me in Iife but rather where we choose to place our focus, how we decide to handle the situation, and who we decide to become because of the situation. I believe this is a big part of our journey here on earth and I love guiding my clients through it.

In my practice, I work with adult individuals and couples with a non-judgmental and holistic approach. I know it’s not east to start therapy with a new therapist so, I try to create an atmosphere of acceptance where you can feel comfortable to open-up with curiosity. You might be feeling stuck or going through a transition, maybe you are holding on to pain of the past or anxious about the future. Wherever you are, we will start from there and with compassion, begin the journey of growth.

In my sessions with you, I will combine Mindfulness with CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy). These techniques help you live more in the present, with more contentment and less judgment. I will also teach you skills to calm and focus like meditation, breath, and imagery exercises.  I specialize in working with anxiety, depression, stress management, grief, health Issues, infertility, women’s Issues, transitions, relationship Issues, trauma, and transitions

With couples, I interweave Family Systems techniques into our work together. So, in a session  you both will continue to work on your individual issues. If you have communication difficulties, it’s a great way to learn and grow as a couple and as an individual.

I look forward to getting to know you and what makes you special and unique. Together we will help you create the life you desire!
