Hi, I’m Emily Maxey!
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist who helps individuals reclaim their lives and heal from whatever it is that keeps them stuck. Whether it be anxiety, low self-esteem, PTSD or complex trauma, addiction, relationship struggles, or something else unique to the individual, I am here to walk with you through it.
In session, I show up authentically with a relaxed but structured approach. I want clients to know that healing really is relational, and when we feel comfortable to be vulnerable that is where the growth happens.
Therapy with me is curated to feel safe, nonjudgmental, and supportive. My approach incorporates aspects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, EMDR, and other evidence-based approaches. These therapeutic modalities allow you to identify ways trauma may be living in your nervous system, as well as finding meaningful ways to move forward in alignment with your own values system. I am deeply passionate about my work and am committed to being a lifelong learner, because life loves to teach lessons! I am honored to cheer you on as you work toward the life that you want and deserve.
I’m professionally caffeinated, naturally curious, and fluent in feelings!
Outside of my work, I love spending time in the great outdoors. Running, walking, hiking, kayaking– anything and everything in nature helps me feel grounded. I enjoy reading, spending time with my loved ones (especially my cat) and finding new spots to eat. I love where I live and am thankful to serve the community!
I became a therapist because as humans, we have a need to feel understood– to be seen deeply at the most vulnerable level and to still be supported. I want to provide a space where you can be authentically YOU, and where you can learn how to love that!
