Women with Anxiety

Women with Anxiety

Anxiety is natural response to emotional or physical stress. It is a feeling of worry or nervousness associated with an event or situation. Anxiety can look different for everyone, and some common signs are feelings of panic, feeling irritable or on edge, increased heart rate, having difficulty concentrating, feeling weak or tired, or having trouble sleeping. Sometimes anxiety can interfere with daily life and become disabling, preventing us from taking part in activities such as preparing for a presentation at school or work, or going out to eat with a friend. 1 in 5 adults in the United States have anxiety that can be disabling, and women are nearly twice more likely to experience this than men. Women are also more likely to experience body-based symptoms of anxiety such as faintness and shortness of breath. If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, self-care, mindfulness strategies, and extra support can help you manage your anxiety and live a more empowered and fulfilling life.
